About the piece
Early light on an earthen wall, and the patterns it softens.
Low morning sun falls across an earthen compound wall painted with original patterns inspired by the Uli wall art of Igbo women. Shadows soften the lines as the light moves. The patterns are our own, not copied from any recorded mural. A warm, slow scene for a hallway, dining room or living room.
Igbo women painted Uli murals on the walls of homes and compounds, and the designs were renewed rather than kept, often after the rainy season.
From our Igbo Heritage collection, drawn from the art and land of southeastern Nigeria.
